I really have no intention of annoying you. And I mean that.

Kelly Lester, ceo of EasyLunchboxes, has no intention of annoying you

Dear loyal blog readers,

Thank you for reading my blog.

This is for the many of you who subscribe to my blog updates by email. (Hopefully, you?)
(NOTE – subscribing to this blog is entirely different from being a subscriber to my company newsletter, which I only send out once in a while, usually when something sorta big is going on… I hope you might be signed up for that too.)

It means a lot to me that you don’t want to miss any of my posts here on It’s Not Just Lunch.Smile

But it may all be over soon…

No, I’m not giving up on lunch-packing, but my current blog subscription method (powered by Google/Feedburner) may very possibly stop working in the near future. There have been LOTS of rumblings about how Google is discontinuing this service. Google Reader is being discontinued this coming July, and Feedburner may be next on the chopping block…

HUH? Ok, that simply means: if you get emails about my blog posts via Google/Feedburner, that may come to a screeching halt one day soon. You will no longer hear from me when I post a new article here on my blog.

And yea, I realize this probably wouldn’t be the end of the world for you. But, if you’ll allow me to be so bold …. since you seem pretty interested in all things neat about packing lunches, why miss something that could possibly be a little life-changing? Sometimes, it’s the really small things that matter most…

So you want me to do what?

If you’d like to keep receiving my blog posts in your email, would you please sign up for my new subscription service?

The sign-up field is on this page. Look for “Subscribe to blog via email.”
If you’re on a computer, the sign-up field is located above, near the top of the right sidebar. If you’re on your phone or small tablet, scroll to the bottom of this post and you’ll see it.

Once you sign up (and confirm your subscription via the email you’ll receive) feel free to unsubscribe from the old Google/Feedburner subscription, so you don’t get TWO emails from me. That would be so annoying, right?

How do I unsubscribe from the old email subscription?

If you received notice of this post in your email, read that email and see where it came from.
If you look on the bottom right of your email, you might see this:

This is the subscription you don't want

If you see “Email delivery powered by Google”, that’s the one you don’t want, and you can unsubscribe right there, via the unsubscribe link at the bottom of that email. Easy peasy.

Here’s a little more detail about what the NEW subscription looks like and what the OLD one looks like. Again –  be sure to sign up for the new, and unsubscribe from the old.

Unsubscribe from the Google/feedburner subscription

OK. I hope I haven’t confused you. (Oh, and trust me, I’d do all this FOR you if I could, but I can’t sign you up for something without your permission.) If you’ve made it this far, hopefully you’ve subscribed to my blog posts AND my newsletter, and have unsubscribed from the old email feed.

However, if I’ve totally annoyed you and you’re just about ready to throw a sandwich cutter at me (I mean really…  packing lunches is enough to worry about, I know!), don’t fret. You can always hang with me and my merry gang of lunch-packers, just by clicking on the “social” icons on this page and liking/following us on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, etc.

I’m happy to see you however you want to see me.

Hi Kim, yes :)
And thank you for asking about Feedly.com – a great alternative to Google Reader! I love the super clean interface and magazine-like quality of it. It’s fun to quickly look through articles to see what’s new/interesting. If anyone reading this would like to learn more, I found a terrific video that showcases what’s best about Feedly/how to get started: http://cnettv.cnet.com/get-started-feedly/9742-1_53-50143330.html

A bonus of feedly is that if you are already a Google Reader user AND sign up for feedly with your Google info BEFORE July 1, all your Google Reader info with automatically migrate to feedly and you won’t have to do anything at all to keep getting your feeds.

You’re right Susan. And really, a reader service like Feedly is such a streamlined and time-efficient way to curate and access content. It’s really a pleasure to use. I’m enjoying it much more than I did Google Reader.

I just added email subscription to my blog using Feedburner, but if it is likely to go away, I would like to switch to Feedly. Can I ask how you got it set up on your blog? I have tried researching it, but can only find how to use it from a reader’s perspective. You can email me if you like.

Hi Jennifer – I have the Wordpress JetPack plug-in suite (free) installed on my blog, and one of the features I enabled is for it to handle the email subscriptions. From what I know, Feedly is not for collecting emails and sending your blog posts out. Feedly is only a replacement for Google Reader. Hope that helps!
